Nine women of 16 returnees from Myanmar test positive for Covid-19

Dec 06. 2020: Chiang Rai has found nine new cases of Covid-19 linked to the 1G1 Hotel in Myanmar, provincial officials said.

All the nine were women aged 20-44 years, who had travelled through legal channels.

Chiang Rai administration officials held a press conference on Sunday regarding the Covid-19 situation in the province.

They said the nine women had travelled across the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge and entered the quarantine process as soon as they had returned to the country without being exposed to the community at all.

S. Korea reports 11 more African swine fever cases in wild boars

SEOUL, Feb. 18 (Yonhap) — An environment agency said Tuesday it has found 11 more wild boars infected with the deadly African swine fever (ASF) virus in areas near the inter-Korean border. The discoveries raised the number of wild boar infections in the country to 228.

The 11 carcasses were found in border areas, including in the eastern county of Hwacheon, Gangwon Province, as well as the border city of Paju and Yeoncheon County in Gyeonggi Province, north of Seoul, according to a research institute affiliated with the environment ministry.

Thailand reports new coronavirus case, to increase entry screening

BANGKOK (Reuters) – Thailand said on Monday it had recorded one new case of the coronavirus and was increasing screening of visitors from Singapore and Japan entering the country in response to the widening outbreak.

The new case, a 60-year-old Chinese woman whose family members earlier contracted the virus, takes the total number of cases in Thailand to 35 since January, Sukhum Kanchanapimai, the health ministry’s permanent secretary told a news conference.

Coronavirus: Hospital Authority reveals staff were at a meeting

Five senior Hospital Authority staff were at a meeting earlier this month attended by two engineers diagnosed with the coronavirus, it emerged on Monday.

The revelation came as a 69-year-old man was confirmed as infected, along with a colleague and the wife of a Hong Kong engineer, bringing the number of cases in the city to 60.

The two engineers from architecture firm P&T Group, aged 54 and 45, attended a development project meeting at the Hospital Authority’s headquarters on February 6 and 7, which was the last time the co-workers were together.

Five authority representatives were also present. The meeting on February 6 was attended by 15 people. Also present were representatives from quantity surveyors Rider Levett Bucknall Limited, planning and development consultant KJL Limited, and engineering firm WSP.

Five districts of Thanh Hoa report outbreaks of A/H5N6 avian flu

VOV.VN – A total of five districts in Thanh Hoa province have reported outbreaks of the A/H5N6 avian influenza, with the first outbreak being detected in Nong Cong district on February 3, forcing local veterinary workers to destroy approximately 43,600 poultry.

he first outbreak of the A/H5N6 avian influenza was recorded on February 3 at a local poultry farm in Lai Thinh hamlet of Tan Khang commune in Nong Cong district.

Elsewhere, Quang Xuong district saw reports of the epidemic on February 4 in a breeding farm in Quang Truong commune.

Woman let off Westerdam cruise ship tests positive for coronavirus

Authorities are attempting to locate people who disembarked the MS Westerdam cruise ship after an American passenger was stopped in Malaysia Saturday and later tested positive for the coronavirus.

The Holland America cruise line had previously said none of its 1,454 passengers or 802 crew had reported any symptoms and they were cleared to travel by Cambodian authorities when the ship docked on Thursday.
